Shimano Shadow RD+ - pe schimbator este montat un comutator cu ajutorul caruia poti tensiona patina schimbatorului. Sistemul functioneaza asemenea unui ambreiaj, prin frecare, reduce semnificativ zgomotul produs de lant si miscarea acestuia, astfel incat sansele sa-ti cada lantul sunt aproape zero. Mai mult de atat, poti ajusta tensionarea patinei cu ajutorul unei chei speciale pozitionate in interiorul schimbatorului, sub capacul mecanismului. Cu cat patina este mai tensionata, cu atat este mai greu de miscat, lantul bate semnificativ mai putin pe trasee denivelate. Atunci cand sistemul nu este cuplat, schimbatorul se comporta ca unul normal.
