Crater marathon 2025

crater marathon is the newest and most suitable cycling marathon competition around Oradia. Crater Marathon differently from the other cycling marathons organized so far in the area by the fact that we have tried to completely avoid asphalted roads and localities.

thus the routes contain only the road or cobbled road, paths in forests or on the ridges of the hills and reaching only the edge of the localities, without crossing the villages long and wide.

also the routes pass through several protected areas "Natura 2000":

- Near the start/finish area is the Nature Reserve "Lake cu Verferi - Puţea stream"

- Paleontological Reserve "Fossilifier Place on Hill Şomleu" with a vertical avenue named by "crater" locals

- three reserves in Tăşad (natural, paleontological and archaeological) with the archaeological site "Cetăţaua" (with the remains of a Dacian Stavechi) and "Tortonian limestones" in Valea Stracoşului, Valley where after archaeological excavations the researchers found the remains of a 13 million years.

routes pass largely in forested areas. It also crosses a forest of conifers with spruce, pine and juniper, these being spread mainly at mountain altitudes, with colder areas - not in hill and bricks as we find near Oradia.

apart from the coniferous forest the routes pass through the stream, speed through the dry valleys and ridges, having more pronounced climbs, possibly with push-bike for some of us.

We have prepared three categories of routes:

- children & family, about 2 km with 50 m level difference;

- short, about 25 km with 550 m level difference;

- long, about 49 km with 1000 m level difference;
